Briarwood (Little Rock) facts for kids

Briarwood is a cool neighborhood located right in the middle of Little Rock, Arkansas. Think of a neighborhood as a special area where people live close together. Briarwood is made up of several smaller areas called subdivisions. These were built a long time ago, mostly in the 1950s and early 1960s.

The neighborhood has clear boundaries. To the north, you'll find West Markham Street. To the south, it's bordered by Interstate 630. University Avenue is on the east side, and Cunningham Lake Road marks the western edge.

What's New in Briarwood?

Briarwood has been changing and growing! Many parts of the neighborhood have seen new developments.

Shopping and Fun

On the east side of Briarwood, there used to be a big shopping center called the University Mall. It was built in 1967 and was a popular spot for many years.

However, in 2008, the old mall was taken down. A brand new shopping area called Park Avenue was built in its place. This new center opened in stages. On October 10, 2010, a large store called Target was one of the first businesses to open its doors in the Park Avenue Shopping Center.

Homes and Living

Even with new shops, Briarwood is still a great place to live. Many homes in the area have been updated recently. This means they have new, energy-efficient windows and modern bathrooms and kitchens. These updates help make the homes more comfortable and modern for families.
