Exploring the Bric-a-Brac Shop
The show took place in a make-believe junk shop. Brian Cant played the shopkeeper. He would talk directly to the camera. Each episode focused on one letter of the alphabet. The shopkeeper would find and talk about different items. All these items started with that episode's special letter.
Fun with Words
The scripts for Bric-a-Brac used lots of clever wordplay. They often used alliteration. This is when words close together start with the same sound. For example, "big bright ball." The show also featured tongue-twisters. These are phrases that are hard to say quickly. An example is "She sells seashells by the seashore."
The Clockwork Toy
At the end of every episode, something special happened. Brian Cant would wind up a traditional clockwork toy. He would then set it off. The camera would zoom in on the toy as the show's credits rolled. This was a unique and memorable way to end each episode.
Who Presented Bric-a-Brac?
