Bridget Egerton or Bridget, Lady Egerton (née Grey; 1577 – 28 July 1648) was an English writer who focused on religious topics.
A Look at Bridget Egerton's Life
Bridget Grey was born in 1577. She was the only daughter of Jane Sibylla and Arthur Grey, 14th Baron Grey de Wilton, who was a Baron.
Her brother, Thomas, faced a difficult time. He was arrested and put in prison, where he stayed for the rest of his life.
Bridget Egerton wrote many essays about religious subjects. She based her writings on references from the Bible. Her essays shared her strong beliefs about her own faith. These writings became well-known when they were published in 1872 by the Chetham Society.
Her Family Life
Bridget married Sir Roland Egerton, 1st Baronet in 1620. He was the son of Sir John Egerton.
In 1625, after Sir John Egerton passed away, Bridget and Roland moved to the family's home in Farthinghoe. Her husband, Roland, died in 1646. Bridget Egerton was buried next to him in 1648.
