History of Bridgetown
Bridgetown started around 1820. Its name comes from Bridgeton, New Jersey. Many of the first people who settled here were from that New Jersey town.
Western Hills Airport
Bridgetown was once home to the Western Hills Airport. People also called it "Frank Airport" or "Cheviot Airport." This was the first airport in the western part of Hamilton County, Ohio. The airport began operating in 1929. It closed during World War II but reopened after the war ended. However, it slowly became less busy. The airport stopped services completely in 1949 because airplanes became too big for its facilities.
Where is Bridgetown Located?
Bridgetown is located just west of the city of Cheviot. It is about 9 miles (14 kilometers) northwest of downtown Cincinnati. Ohio State Route 264, also known as Bridgetown Road, goes right through the middle of the community.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Bridgetown covers a total area of about 4.31 square miles (11.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
