Brikama is one of the biggest cities in the Gambia, a country in West Africa. People who live there often call it 'Satey Ba', which means "big town" in their local language. It is located southwest of Banjul, the capital city of the Gambia.
Brikama is the main center for the Brikama Local Government Area. This area used to be called the Western Division. It is the largest city in its region, with more than twenty-five neighborhoods. In 2013, the Brikama Local Government Area had over 730,000 people living there.

Economy and Energy
Brikama is an important place for the economy of its region. In 2006, a special power station was opened here. It is called the Brikama Power Station. This station helps provide electricity to the area. It was officially opened by the country's leader at that time, Yahya Jammeh.
Culture and Arts
Brikama is famous for its amazing wood carving. Many skilled artists here create beautiful sculptures and crafts from wood. It's also a very important place for music in the Gambia. Lots of well-known musicians come from Brikama.
