Brinktown, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Brinktown is a small, quiet place in Maries County, Missouri, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's part of the larger county's rules and services. Brinktown is found about eight miles southwest of a town called Vienna, right along Route 133.

A Bit of History

Brinktown wasn't always called Brinktown! Its first name was Viessmann. Imagine, a post office was set up there in 1890 under the name Viessmann.

How Brinktown Got Its Name

The name changed to Brinktown in 1903. There's a fun story about how this happened! It's said that a lady named Mrs. Brink offered to give money to the local church. In return for her generous gift, the community agreed to rename the place after her. And that's how Viessmann became Brinktown!
