Brita Granström is a talented artist from Sweden. She was born in 1969. She studied art at Konstfack in Stockholm and finished her studies in 1994. Today, she works as a painter and an illustrator, splitting her time between Great Britain and her home country, Sweden.
Brita Granström's Paintings
Brita Granström is well-known for her beautiful paintings. In 2011, a special painting she made of herself, called Mother of Four, was bought by a famous art collection called The Ruth Borchard Collection.
She has also had many art shows. In 2012, a big show of her paintings called Life in Landscape opened in London. It then traveled to Newcastle and was called A Breath of Fresh Air. More recently, she had shows like The Night Swimmer in 2014 and Sea Salt & Sourdough in 2015. Her paintings are shown by Thompson's Galleries in Aldeburgh.

Brita Granström is also a very successful illustrator, especially for children's books. She was even nominated for the ALMA (Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award) in both 2013 and 2014. The ALMA is the biggest award in the world for children's books! In May 2011, she was also chosen to be a Fellow of the English Association.
As a children's book illustrator, Brita often works with her partner, Mick Manning. Together, they have created many popular books for kids. One of their books, Charlie's War Illustrated, won the English Association Award in 2014. Another book, Taff in the WAAF, which was about Mick Manning's mother's work during a war, won the English Association Award in 2011.
In 1998, The Scotsman newspaper wrote that Mick Manning and Brita Granström had "revolutionised our bookshelves" with their non-fiction books for younger children. This means they changed how these types of books were made and enjoyed.
