Location of Brokensword, Ohio

Brokensword is a small, unincorporated community located in Crawford County, Ohio, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" is a place where people live and work, but it doesn't have its own official local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.

Brokensword is found right on the edge of two areas called Holmes Township and Lykens Township. You can find it where two main roads, State Route 19 and State Route 100, meet with Brokensword Road. It's about six miles north and two miles west of Bucyrus, which is the main city and county seat for Crawford County. A small stream called Broken Sword Creek flows not far from the community.

History of Brokensword

The community of Brokensword has a bit of history. A post office was opened there in 1837, which means people could send and receive mail right in their community. This post office served the area for many years before it finally closed down in 1906.

The name "Brokensword" comes from the nearby stream, Broken Sword Creek. It's common for communities to be named after natural features like rivers or creeks that are close by.
