Shannon Narrun Williams, known as Brothablack, is an Indigenous hip hop artist from Sydney, Australia. He uses his music to share stories and ideas, especially about life as an Indigenous man in Australia.

About Brothablack

Brothablack was a founding member of the group South West Syndicate. This group won a special award called a Deadly Award, which celebrates Indigenous Australian music and culture.

Solo Career and Collaborations

After his time with South West Syndicate, Brothablack began his solo music career. He became an MC (which means a host or performer) for The National Indigenous 3on3 Basketball and Hip Hop Challenge. He also performed at the Big Day Out, which was a very popular music festival in Australia.

In 2007, Brothablack released his own album called More Than A Feeling. He created this album to help non-Indigenous people understand more about the lives of Indigenous men. That same year, he worked with the famous Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods. They created a song for a campaign by reconcile.org.au. This campaign aimed to raise awareness about health differences affecting Indigenous Australians.

Radio and Television

Brothablack's music has been played a lot on Triple J, a national radio station. He even performed a special live show for Triple J's "Live at the Wireless" program, which was broadcast on July 9, 2007.

From the first to the third series, Brothablack also co-hosted a TV show called Move it Mob Style with Naomi Wenitong. This show encouraged young people to be active and healthy.
