Flaveria brownii, also known as Brown's yellowtops, is a special plant from North America. It belongs to the yellowtops group, which is part of the big sunflower family. You can only find this plant growing along the coast of southern Texas in the United States. It loves sandy areas and salty marshes near the Gulf of Mexico.

This plant was first officially described in 1979 by a botanist named Albert Michael Powell. He gave it the scientific name Flaveria brownii.

Brown's yellowtops is a perennial herb. This means it lives for more than two years. It can grow up to about 70 cm (27.5 inches) tall.

The stems of this plant can sometimes grow straight up. Other times, they might recline or lean on the ground. Its leaves are long and narrow. They can be up to 12 cm (4.7 inches) long.
Flowers

This unique plant is found only in a specific area. It grows in the coastal parts of southern Texas. You can often spot it in sand dunes and salt marshes. These are places very close to the Gulf of Mexico.
