The Acacia celsa, also known as brown salwood, is a type of tree. It belongs to a large group of trees called Acacia. This tree grows naturally in the northeastern parts of Australia.

What Does Brown Salwood Look Like?

This tree usually grows quite tall. It can reach a height of about 8 to 30 meters (26 to 98 feet). Its main trunk can be around 80 centimeters (31 inches) wide.

The bark of the brown salwood is hard and thin. It often has small cracks and lines on its surface. The tree's smaller branches are flat and have sharp angles. They are a light green color at their tips.

Like many Acacia trees, it has special leaf-like parts called phyllodes. These are not true leaves. The phyllodes are dark green to grey-green and look a bit shiny. They are usually 5 to 15 centimeters (2 to 6 inches) long. They are also about 1 to 3.5 centimeters (0.4 to 1.4 inches) wide. These phyllodes have many thin lines running along them.

The brown salwood tree produces yellow flowers. It blooms during the months of January to May.

Where Does Brown Salwood Grow?

The brown salwood tree is found only in certain areas. It grows naturally in the northeastern parts of Queensland, Australia. You can find it as far north as Cooktown. It also grows in the eastern area of the Atherton Tableland.

There is also a separate group of these trees. They are located further south in the Paluma Range. This area is northwest of Townsville.

These trees often grow along coastal plains. They can also be found on steep mountains. They usually grow at heights of about 600 to 900 meters (1,970 to 2,950 feet). The brown salwood is often one of the first trees to grow in an area. It can also be a tall tree that forms the top layer of a rainforest.
