Browns Summit (sometimes called Brown Summit) is a small community in Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. It is not a city or town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community.
This area is mostly rural, with lots of trees, open fields, and rolling farmland. However, it is growing quickly! Many new homes are being built, especially near NC Hwy 150. Browns Summit is also close to bigger cities like Greensboro, Burlington, and Reidsville. A new highway, Interstate 785, is planned to be completed nearby, which will help the area grow even more.
A big attraction in Browns Summit is the Bryan Park Complex. It's located at the southern edge of the community. Bryan Park has a soccer complex called BB&T, Lake Townsend Park (right next to Lake Townsend), and the Champions Golf Course.
History of Browns Summit
The story of Browns Summit began in 1858. That year, a man named Jesse Brown bought land in the area. He started a farm there.
A few years later, in 1863, the Richmond and Danville Railroad built a train line through the area. They decided to name the spot "Browns Summit." This was because Jesse Brown's farm was located at the highest point along their new railroad line.
