Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Bruno is a small, unincorporated community located in the southwestern part of Marion County, Arkansas, United States. It's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own official city government like a town or city would. The community is about eight miles southwest of Yellville, a larger town nearby. You can reach Bruno by traveling along Arkansas Route 235.

Discovering Bruno's History

Bruno is home to several important buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list kept by the United States government. It includes places that are important to American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering, or culture. When a place is on this list, it means it's recognized for its historical value and efforts are made to preserve it.

Five places in the Bruno area are on this important list:

  • Aggie Hall, located on County Road 9.
  • Aggie Workshop, found on AR 235 Spur.
  • Bruno School Building, also on Co. Rd. 9.
  • Hirst-Mathew Hall, situated on AR 235 Spur.
  • Pea Ridge School Building, which is about four miles south of Bruno, east of Co. Rd. 6.

These buildings often tell stories about how people lived, learned, and gathered in the past. They are like historical treasures for the community.

Learning in Bruno: Schools

Students in Bruno attend public schools that are part of the Ozark Mountain School District. This school district serves several communities in the area. One of the main schools for older students is Bruno–Pyatt High School.

Before 2004, Bruno had its own school district called the Bruno-Pyatt School District. However, on July 1, 2004, this district joined with others to form the larger Ozark Mountain School District. This change helped combine resources and provide education for more students across the region.
