Early Life and Moving to Canada
Bruno Zebie was born in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, France. His parents were from the Ivory Coast. He became a French citizen in 1999.
When he was six years old, his family moved to Lachine, Quebec, in Canada. Later, they moved to Brossard, Quebec. When Bruno was 13, his family moved to Edmonton.
Starting Soccer as a Young Player
Bruno started playing youth soccer with a team called Edmonton Juventus. In 2012, he joined the FC Edmonton Academy. This academy helps young players develop their soccer skills. In 2016, he also played with the Edmonton Green and Gold youth academy.
Playing Soccer in University
In 2016, Bruno started studying at the University of Alberta. He also played for their men's soccer team, known as the Alberta Golden Bears.
University Achievements
In his first year, Bruno was recognized as a Canada West Second Team All-Star. This means he was one of the best players in his university league. His team also won the U Sports Men's Soccer Championship that year. This is a big national championship for university soccer teams in Canada. In 2017, he was named a Canada West First Team All-Star, showing he continued to be a top player.
Professional Club Career
Bruno Zebie joined FC Edmonton's main team on July 3, 2015. At that time, FC Edmonton played in the North American Soccer League. He played his first game on July 13, 2015. He came into the game as a substitute for another player.
Playing for Calgary Foothills
After the North American Soccer League stopped, Bruno played for Calgary Foothills. He played with them during the 2017 and 2018 seasons in the Premier Development League. In 2018, his team, Calgary Foothills, won the PDL Championship. They won the final game 2-1 against Reading United.
Returning to FC Edmonton
Bruno Zebie returned to FC Edmonton on December 13, 2018. This was before the first season of the Canadian Premier League began. In November 2019, FC Edmonton announced that Bruno would not be playing for their team in the 2020 season.
Joining Cavalry FC
On February 5, 2020, Bruno signed with Cavalry FC. This team is a rival of FC Edmonton, and their games are often called "Al Classico." Bruno became the first player to play for both of these rival clubs. He also reunited with his old coach from Calgary Foothills, Tommy Wheeldon Jr..
Bruno played in all ten of Cavalry's games that year. On January 26, 2021, the club announced that Bruno's contract would not be renewed for 2021. This made him a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team. After that season, he moved back to his hometown of Edmonton to start coaching.
Playing for Canada's Youth Teams
Bruno Zebie was invited to training camps for Canada's national soccer teams. He played for the under-18 and under-20 teams. In 2013, he played in a tournament called the L'Alcúdia International Football Tournament. The Canadian under-18 team finished fourth in this competition.
Coaching Career
In 2022, Bruno Zebie joined the coaching staff at the University of Alberta. He now helps coach the men's soccer team there, which is his old university team.
