How Budapest Got Its Name
The community of Budapest in Missouri was named after the famous city of Budapest, Hungary. Many of the first families who settled here came from Hungary, their native land. They chose to name their new home after the capital city they remembered.
The Budapest Post Office
For a short time, Budapest, Missouri, even had its own post office. It opened in 1912, helping people send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office only stayed open for about ten years, closing down in 1922.
