History of Buena Vista
Buena Vista was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1850. This process is called "platting." The community got its name to remember an important event from the past: the Battle of Buena Vista. This battle happened in 1847 during the Mexican–American War, which was a conflict between the United States and Mexico. A post office was opened in Buena Vista in 1883, helping people send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years until 1960.
