Bujumbura Rural Province is one of the 18 provinces in Burundi. Burundi is a country located in East Africa. The capital city of Bujumbura Rural Province is Isale.
This province is quite unique because it completely surrounds the city of Bujumbura. Bujumbura used to be the national capital of Burundi.
A Bit of History
In the year 2000, the area around Bujumbura was divided. It was split into two different provinces. These new provinces were Bujumbura Rural Province and Bunjumbura Mairie Province. This change helped to organize the region better.
A famous person, Cyprien Ntaryamira, was born in this province. He later became the President of Burundi.
Communes of Bujumbura Rural
Bujumbura Rural Province is made up of nine smaller areas called communes. Each commune has its own local government. These communes help manage the daily lives of the people living there.
