Bunji Kimura (木村 文治, Kimura Bunji, born August 27, 1944) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He was born in Kyoto, Japan. He played as a defender for Yanmar Diesel, which is now known as Cerezo Osaka. After his playing days, he became a successful football manager for several teams.

Playing Football
Bunji Kimura was born in Kyoto Prefecture on July 27, 1944. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Economics, he joined a team called Yanmar Diesel in 1968.
Playing for Yanmar Diesel
Kimura played for Yanmar Diesel for five years. He was a strong defender for the team. He played in 72 games and scored 2 goals. He helped his team win the Japan Soccer League in 1971. They also won the Emperor's Cup twice, in 1968 and 1970. He stopped playing football professionally in 1973.
Coaching Football Teams
After he stopped playing, Bunji Kimura decided to become a football coach. He wanted to share his knowledge and love for the game.
Starting as a Coach
Kimura began his coaching career in 1982. He became the manager for his hometown club, Kyoto Shiko. This club later became known as Kyoto Purple Sanga. He coached them until 1991.
Coaching in the J.League
In 1991, Kimura became an assistant coach. He worked with Shu Kamo at Yokohama Flügels. When Shu Kamo left to coach the Japan national football team, Kimura took over. He became the manager of Yokohama Flügels in 1995. He later left this role but stayed with the club as a staff member.
Returning to Kyoto Sanga
After Yokohama Flügels closed down, Kimura moved back to Kyoto Purple Sanga. He helped the team as a temporary manager in 1999 and again in 2003. He left the club in June 2004.
Later Coaching Roles
In 2007, Bunji Kimura became the manager for FC Suzuka Rampole. He coached this team for three years. He left the club in August 2010.
