Burhan Genç Koç (born on January 20, 1983), known as Burhan G, is a Danish R&B and pop singer. He is also a talented songwriter and music producer. Burhan G has released several successful albums. Two of his albums, Burhan G and Din for evigt, have been certified platinum in Denmark. He is famous for his number one hit songs like "Mest ondt" (featuring Medina), "Tættere på himlen" (featuring Nik & Jay), "Din for evigt", "Kalder mig hjem", and "Karma" (featuring L.O.C.).

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Burhan Genç Koç has a Kurdish background. His parents are from Haymana, Turkey. He grew up in Brøndby Strand, which is near Copenhagen, Denmark.

When he was younger, Burhan G sang as a solo soprano in the "Københavns Drengekor" (Copenhagen Boys Choir). He also sang backup for the popular Danish hip hop group Outlandish. He even toured with Outlandish and sang the chorus in their hit song "Walou." Burhan G also worked with other artists like Funk Flush and U$O early in his career.

Music Career Highlights

Burhan G started his solo career with the song "Burhan G" in September 2003. His first album, Playground, came out in May 2004. This album led to him being nominated for three Danish Music Awards in 2005. He won the award for "Best Danish Newcomer." He also won "Best Danish Album" at the Danish DeeJay Awards in the same year.

In 2007, Burhan G joined a new record label called Copenhagen Records. He then released his second album, Breakout. A song from this album, "Who Is He," became a hit.

In 2008, Burhan G released "Kun dig" ("Only you"), which was his first hit song in Danish. This led to his self-titled album, Burhan G, which was also in Danish. In April 2010, Burhan G decided to sing more in Danish. He said he loved music and all the ways to express himself. This decision was very successful for him. His song "Mest ondt" ("What hurts the most"), featuring the singer Medina, became his first Danish number one hit. It stayed at the top of the charts for one week. His next single, "Tættere på himlen" ("Closer to heaven"), featuring Nik & Jay, also reached number one and stayed there for three weeks. Both of these songs, along with "Jeg vil ha' dig for mig selv," were certified platinum.
