Bury Hill is a special area in West Sussex, England. It's located just north of the town of Arundel. In the 1700s, this place was known as Berry Hill and became a very important spot for playing cricket games. It was the home ground for the Arundel Cricket Club.

Bury Hill was a popular place for cricket matches a long time ago. People think it might have hosted a game as early as 1702. That match was possibly between a team led by the 1st Duke of Richmond and a team from Arundel.
Cricket's Early Days at Bury Hill
The first game we know for sure happened at Bury Hill was on July 20, 1725. This was a big match between a team put together by the 2nd Duke of Richmond and a team led by Sir William Gage. The Duke of Richmond's team won that game by more than 40 runs.
Famous Matches Played Here
Another game between the Duke of Richmond's team and Sir William Gage's team was played at Bury Hill on June 12, 1730. We don't know who won that particular match.
Bury Hill also hosted a game between two county teams. On August 26, 1745, teams from Sussex and Surrey played there. It's believed that the Surrey team won this game. After 1745, Bury Hill was no longer used for cricket matches.
