The Story of Buxton
How Buxton Began
Buxton started to grow in the year 1866. This was when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway built its train tracks through this area. The railway was very important because it helped people and goods travel across the country. Buxton was named after an official who worked for the railroad company.
A Changing Community
Over time, communities change. The post office in Buxton, which helped people send and receive mail, stopped operating in 1921. This often happens in smaller communities as services change or move to nearby towns.
