A Look at Byrneville's Past
The community of Byrneville was started in 1838 by a person named Temple C. Byrn. He had settled in the area much earlier, in 1809. When a place is "platted," it means someone drew up a map. This map shows where streets and building lots will go.
Byrneville had its own post office starting in 1851. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important part of the community for many years. The post office continued to serve the area until it closed down in 1906.
