Cécile Manorohanta's Early Career

Cécile Manorohanta became the Minister of Defense on 27 October 2007. She joined the government led by Prime Minister Charles Rabemananjara. This was a very important moment for Madagascar. She was the first woman in her country to hold the position of Defense Minister.

Why She Resigned in 2009

On 9 February 2009, Cécile Manorohanta decided to step down from her role. She announced her resignation as Minister of Defense. She explained that she could no longer be part of the government. This decision came after a period of difficult events in the country. After her resignation, Mamy Ranaivoniarivo was chosen to take her place as the chief of military staff.

Returning to Government

Later in 2009, Cécile Manorohanta returned to the government. On 8 September 2009, she was appointed again. This time, she became the Deputy Prime Minister for the Interior. She served under the new leader, Transitional President Andry Rajoelina.

A Brief Chance at Prime Minister

On 18 December 2009, President Rajoelina made a big change. He removed the current Prime Minister, Eugene Mangalaza. President Rajoelina then said he would appoint Cécile Manorohanta as the new Prime Minister. However, just two days later, on 20 December 2009, a different person was chosen. Albert Camille Vital was appointed as Prime Minister instead.

Leading a University

Since 2013, Cécile Manorohanta has taken on a new leadership role. She became the president of the University of Antsiranana. This shows her continued dedication to public service and education in Madagascar.
