Caicara de Maturín is a town in Venezuela. It is the main town of the Cedeño area in the state of Monagas. You can find it in the western part of Monagas state. It is located northeast of the city of Punta de Mata. The town was started on April 20, 1731. Today, about 20,000 people live there.

History of Caicara
Long ago, the area where Caicara de Maturín is now was home to the Chaima people. They were an indigenous group living there. In 1731, Spanish missionaries arrived. One of them, Fray Antonio de Blesa, founded a town. He named it Santo Domingo de Guzmán de Caycuar. The name "Caicara" comes from an indigenous language. It means "ravine of the ceiba trees."
In April 2013, the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, visited Caicara. He came with Governor Yelitza Santaella. They opened a new Mercal store in the town. Mercal stores are places where people can buy food and other goods.

Manuel Núñez Tovar (1878-1925) was a famous scientist. He studied nature, parasites, and insects. He was known as a naturalist, parasitologist, and entomologist.

Emilio Arévalo Cedeño (1882-1965) was a telegraph station chief. He became a guerrilla fighter. He fought against General Juan Vicente Gómez in the early 1900s.

Celestino Rafael Zamora Montes de Oca was born on November 5, 1928. He became a surgeon. He is also a member of the National Academy of Medicine since 2005.
