Caleb Hanna (born October 29, 1999) is an American politician from West Virginia. He is best known for being one of the youngest people ever elected to a state government position in the United States. From 2018 to 2024, he served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, which is one of the groups of people who make laws for the state of West Virginia.

A Young Leader in Politics

Caleb Hanna made history in 2018 when he was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates. He was only 19 years old at the time, making him the youngest African-American person ever elected to a state legislature in the country.

While serving as a politician, Hanna was also a full-time student at West Virginia State University. He studied economics and earned his bachelor's degree. This meant he had to balance his schoolwork with his job of helping to run the state.

In the House of Delegates, Hanna took on important roles. He was part of several committees, which are small groups of lawmakers who focus on specific topics. He helped work on issues related to education, families, and children.

Winning Elections

To become a member of the House of Delegates, a person must win an election. This is where people in a certain area, called a district, vote for the person they want to represent them.

Hanna first won his election on November 6, 2018. He received 3,041 votes, defeating the person who held the job before him. He was so popular with voters that he was elected again in 2020, winning with 4,332 votes. His time in office ended in January 2024.
