Callan Chythlook-Sifsof (born February 14, 1989) is an American Olympic snowboarder. She has competed in snowboard cross races since 2005. Callan is from the Yupik and Inupiaq native groups. She was the first person from Alaska's native communities to compete in the Olympics.

About Callan Chythlook-Sifsof
Her Early Life
Callan Chythlook-Sifsof grew up in Aleknagik, a small fishing village in Alaska. It has about 300 people and is on the coast of the Bering Sea. She also lived in Dillingham, Alaska. Later, she moved with her mom to Girdwood, Anchorage, Alaska. This move helped her be closer to the Alyeska Resort, a place where she could practice snowboarding. She is part of the Yupik and Inupiaq Eskimo communities.
Her Snowboarding Career (2006–2014)
In 2006, Callan was invited to her first Winter X Games competition. This is a big event for extreme sports. She won a silver medal there in 2011. In 2007, she won the U.S. National Championships in Tamarack, Idaho. The next year, in 2008, she won the Jeep King of the Mountain World snowboard series in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Callan also did well in World Cup races. She finished 3rd in Furano, Japan, in 2006. She also got 2nd place in Arosa, Switzerland, in 2011. She had a knee injury in 2009, so she could not compete that year.
On January 26, 2010, it was announced that Callan made the 2010 U.S. Winter Olympic Team. She competed in the women's snowboard cross event. She finished 21st in the qualifying round. This meant she did not move on to the next stage. Even so, it was a special moment. She was the first person from Alaska's native communities to compete in the Olympics.
In 2012, Callan had two top-ten finishes in World Cup races. But then she hurt her knee again. This injury kept her from competing for the rest of that season. After having three knee surgeries, she injured her knee one more time. Because of her injuries, she decided to retire from snowboarding in 2014.
In February 2014, during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Callan spoke out. She did not qualify for these Olympics. She spoke up to support protests against certain laws in Russia. She said it was important to take a stand against unfairness.
After Retirement (2015–present)
After retiring from snowboarding, Callan continued to be an important voice. She has spoken about important issues for athletes.
