Camilla Herrem is a famous Norwegian handball player. She was born on October 8, 1986. Camilla plays as a left wing. She currently plays for Sola HK. She used to play for the Norwegian national team.
Camilla has won many big awards. These include two gold medals at the Olympic Games. She also has three gold medals from the World Championship. Plus, she has five gold medals from the European Championship. She became the most successful player in World Championship history. She achieved this by winning the 2021 World Championship. She has three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal from this event.

Camilla's Handball Journey
Starting Young at Sola HK
Camilla Herrem began playing handball at Sola HK. She started as a playmaker. But when she was 16, she changed her position. She became a left wing. She played her first game in the Norwegian League at age 16. Her first international game was in the Cup Winners' Cup in 2005.
Playing for Different Clubs
In 2006, Camilla moved to Byåsen. This team had won silver in the Norwegian Championship. With Byåsen, she played in the Champions League qualifiers every year. In the 2014–2015 season, she joined the Romanian team HCM Baia Mare. There, her team reached the Champions League quarterfinals.
Next, she played for the Danish club Team Tvis Holstebro for one year. She won the Cup Winners' Cup with them in 2016. After that, she played for HC Vardar in Macedonia during the 2016–2017 season. Her team made it to the Champions League final. Camilla was even chosen as the best left wing of that Champions League season! After this, she moved back to Norway. She returned to her first professional club, Sola HK.
Playing for Norway's National Team
Camilla played her first game for the Norwegian national team on April 5, 2006. This game was against Sweden. She has been part of Norway's team in major tournaments since the 2008 European Championship. She also played in the 2012 Olympic Games. Her team won the gold medal there.
Camilla has been recognized as one of the best players. She was chosen for the All-Star team at several big championships. These include the 2009 World Championship, the 2016 European Championship, the 2019 World Championship, and the 2020 European Championship.
In 2020, Camilla Herrem was named the best left winger of the World Handball Team of the 2011-2020 Decade. This was based on a vote by handball-planet.com.
On April 4, 2024, Camilla made history. In a match against Hungary, she became the field player with the most games played for Norway. She passed the record held by Karoline Dyhre Breivang, who had 305 games. The player with the most games overall is still goalkeeper Katrine Lunde, with 371 games and counting.
On December 15, 2024, Camilla announced her retirement from the Norwegian national team. This was after her team won the final match against Denmark at the 2024 European Championship. She finished her national team career with 332 matches and 951 goals.

Camilla's Family Life
Since July 2013, Camilla has been married to Steffen Stegavik. He is also a former Norwegian handball player. They have two sons. Their first son was born in July 2018. Their second son was born in March 2023. Camilla even returned to play for Sola HK very soon after her second son was born.
In 2020, Camilla published a book about her life. It is called Camilla uten filter.
