Years ago, around 2008, the city faced some tough financial times. This period was known as the Great Recession. During this time, city leaders thought about selling Camp Dearborn to help with money problems. However, they soon realized that the camp was actually making a profit and was a valuable asset to the community. Plus, selling it would have been complicated due to how the land was set up. So, Camp Dearborn stayed open and continued to be a beloved place for visitors!
