Campton is a small place in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Campton
Campton got its name from an early settler named Squire "Billy" Camp. A long time ago, in 1875, a post office was opened in Campton so people could send and receive mail. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1902.
