Candy Buttons were first made by two companies: Cumberland Valley and J Sudak and Son. J Sudak and Son was located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Over time, the ownership of this popular candy changed hands several times.
Who Made Candy Buttons?
In 1977, J Sudak and Son changed its name to Uncle Nibbles Candy Factory. This company then sold the Candy Buttons to CeeDee Candy. Later, CeeDee Candy sold them to a bigger company called NECCO.
NECCO's Time with Candy Buttons
After buying CeeDee Candy, NECCO also bought the Cumberland Valley Company in 1980. This made NECCO the only company making Candy Buttons in the United States. NECCO produced a huge number of these candies, making 750 million Candy Buttons in one year!
New Owners for a Classic Treat
In 2018, NECCO faced some financial problems. After this, Candy Buttons were bought by Doscher's Candies from Cincinnati. Doscher's Candies was the first company to bring back a former NECCO candy to the market.
