Cankuzo Province is one of the 18 provinces in the country of Burundi. A province is like a large region or state within a country. The main city, or capital, of Cankuzo Province is also called Cankuzo.
Cankuzo Province covers an area of about 1,964.54 square kilometers. This makes it the 4th largest province in Burundi. According to a 2008 count, about 228,873 people live here.
Exploring Cankuzo's Communes
Cankuzo Province is divided into five smaller areas called communes. Think of a commune as a local district or a smaller town area within the province.
Each commune has its own local government. This government is run by a council of 25 members. These members are chosen by the people who live in that commune. They work together to make decisions for their local area.
