A Look Back: The History of Canoe
Early Days and the Post Office
Canoe got its first post office in August 1857. This was a really important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office didn't stay open all the time. It operated off and on for many years. It finally closed down in December 1905.
Population Over Time
Even though it's a small place, people have lived in Canoe for a long time. In 1925, the community had a population of 15 people. It stayed the same size for a while. There were 15 residents recorded again in 1940.
