Canton is a small, unincorporated community located in the state of Iowa, United States. It is found in both Jackson and Jones counties. Today, Canton is a quiet place with just one restaurant and no other businesses or services.
Canton's Past
In the middle of the 1800s, Canton was a busy place. It had a mill for grinding flour, a mill for cutting wood (a saw mill), and a factory that made wool products. These factories used power from the nearby river.
Over the years, Canton's population changed. In 1902, about 210 people lived there. By 1925, the number went down to 75. In 1940, the population was 54.
