Capensibufo is a small group of toads, often called Cape Toads. These toads are part of the Bufonidae family, which means they are "true toads." There are only two known types, or species, of Capensibufo.
You can find these special toads living in the Republic of South Africa. They live in an area that stretches from the Breede River up to north of Knysna. This region is in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
Types of Cape Toads
There are two known species of Capensibufo, both discovered by Hewitt in 1926. Each species has its own unique name:
- Capensibufo rosei is also known as Rose's Mountain Toad.
- Capensibufo tradouwi is also known as Tradouw Mountain Toad.
These names help scientists and nature lovers tell the two types of Cape Toads apart.
