Starting His Wrestling Career
Caprice Coleman began his journey in wrestling in 1996. He started as both a referee and a wrestler. His first wrestling name was Ice. He trained at a place called Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA). There, he learned from famous wrestlers Matt and Jeff Hardy.
After the Hardy Boyz joined the WWE, Coleman moved to NWA Wildside. He joined other wrestlers he knew from OMEGA. On December 2, 2000, he won his first title. It was the NWA Georgia Junior Heavyweight Championship. He held the title for about four months.
Coleman had many matches in NWA Wildside. He faced wrestlers like J.C. Dazz and Lazz. He also won the NWA Wildside Television Championship. This happened on June 29, 2002. He defended his title successfully. He even won a special match that made another wrestler leave the promotion.
In 2003, Coleman made a special appearance in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He took part in a tag team match. This match was later shown on TV.
Competing in Ring of Honor
In January 2004, Coleman returned to NWA Wildside. He won the NWA Wildside Television title again. A week later, he made his first appearance in Ring of Honor (ROH). This was a big step in his career.
However, he had to give up his NWA Television title. This was because of a spinal injury. After recovering, he continued to wrestle. He had important matches in both ROH and NWA Wildside. He even competed in an interpromotional match. This match included wrestlers from different companies.
In July 2004, Coleman won another championship. He defeated Scottie Wren for the CWF Heavyweight Championship. This happened in the Christian Wrestling Federation. Later that year, he also appeared on Monday Night Raw. He wrestled against Gene Snitsky.
Independent Wrestling Scene
In 2005, Coleman continued to wrestle in many independent promotions. He teamed up with Joey Silva. Together, they won the Live Action Wrestling's Gauntlet Series. This earned them the tag team titles. He also had more matches in WWE. He wrestled against Chris Masters and Doug "The Bash Man" Basham.
