Cara Koenen is a talented Australian netball player. She was born on February 27, 1996. Cara plays for the Sunshine Coast Lightning team. This team competes in the top Australian netball league, called Suncorp Super Netball. Cara also helps represent the players as a delegate for the Australian Netball Players’ Association.

Cara's Netball Journey
Starting with the Lightning
Cara was one of the very first players for the Sunshine Coast Lightning. She joined the team when it started in 2017. She has stayed with the Lightning ever since. Cara is the only netball player in the league who comes from Magnetic Island. This island is located off the coast of Townsville in northern Queensland.
Reaching Milestones
On July 10, 2021, Cara Koenen played her 50th game in the national league. All of these games were for the Sunshine Coast Lightning. This was a big achievement in her career.
Winning Gold Medals
Cara has helped the Australian national netball team, known as the Australian Diamonds, win important gold medals.
Commonwealth Games Gold
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Cara played a key role. She came into the gold medal match as a goal shooter. She scored 15 goals from 15 shots. Her perfect shooting helped Australia win against Jamaica with a score of 55–51. This win earned Australia the gold medal.
Netball World Cup Gold
In 2023, Cara was part of the Australian team that won the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town. This was another major victory for the Australian Diamonds.
