Cara Koenen is an Australian netball player. She was born on February 27, 1996. Cara plays in the top netball league in Australia, called Suncorp Super Netball. She plays for the Sunshine Coast Lightning team. Cara also helps represent the players in the league as a delegate for the Australian Netball Players’ Association.

Cara's Netball Journey
Starting with the Lightning
Cara Koenen was one of the very first players for the Sunshine Coast Lightning team. She joined them when the club started in 2017. She has stayed with the team ever since. This makes her a long-standing and important part of the Lightning family.
A Unique Origin
Cara is special because she is the only netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league who comes from Magnetic Island. This island is located off the coast of Townsville in northern Queensland, Australia. It's cool to think she started her journey on an island!
Reaching Milestones
On July 10, 2021, Cara played her 50th game in the national league. All of these games were for the Sunshine Coast Lightning. This was a big achievement in her career.
Playing for Australia
Commonwealth Games Gold
Cara Koenen has also played for the Australian national netball team, known as the Australian Diamonds. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she played a key role in the gold medal match. She came into the game as a goal shooter. Cara scored 15 goals from 15 shots, helping Australia win against Jamaica. Australia won the game 55–51, earning a gold medal!
Netball World Cup Success
Cara continued her success with the Australian Diamonds at the 2023 Netball World Cup. She was part of the team that won the gold medal in Cape Town. This shows she is one of the best netball players in the world.
