Students in Carbon attend schools that are part of the Eastland Independent School District. The local high school, Carbon High School, closed in 1990. This happened because not enough students were attending. After it closed, the Carbon school district joined with the Eastland district.
Important Events in Carbon
On March 17, 2022, a large wildfire called the Eastland Texas Wildfire Complex affected Carbon. This fire caused a lot of damage. Several homes, buildings, and vehicles in the town were completely burned.
Famous People from Carbon
- Thomas G. Morris: He was born in Carbon and later became a Congressman for New Mexico.
- Lee Patton: He was a well-known basketball coach at West Virginia University. He was also born in Carbon.
