Carcasí is a town and a municipality located in the northeastern part of Colombia. It is part of the Santander Department and belongs to the García Rovira Province. A municipality is like a local government area, similar to a county or a district, that includes a main town and the surrounding rural areas.

Carcasí is a small community with a population of about 5,039 people as of 2015. Out of these, around 652 people live in the main town area. The town is located at an elevation of 2,080 meters (about 6,824 feet) above sea level. This high elevation means it has a cool climate, often described as an oceanic climate.
