Carin Bartosch Edström (born in 1965 in Malmö, Sweden) is a talented Swedish composer and writer. She is especially interested in creating operas, which are plays where the story is told mostly through singing.
Her Life and Studies
Carin Bartosch Edström had an interesting childhood, living in different countries. She spent time in the United States, but mostly grew up in Rome, Italy, and Lund, Sweden. While she was in Italy, she even took singing lessons!
Carin studied how to compose music with several famous teachers. She finished her music studies at Lund University's Malmö Academy of Music in 1999. After that, she helped start the Skanör/Falsterbo chamber music festival. She also led the Musica Vitae chamber music orchestra for a few years. In 2000, she became a member of the Society of Swedish Composers, which is a big honor for composers in Sweden.
In 2011, Carin also became a published author. Her first crime novel, called Furioso, came out. It was about a Swedish string quartet, which is a group of four musicians who play string instruments like violins and cellos.
