Carla Angeline Reyes Abellana was born on June 12, 1986, in Manila, Philippines. Her father is the actor Rey "PJ" Abellana, and her mother is Rea Reyes. Carla's grandmother is the respected veteran actress, Delia Razon. She studied at De La Salle University and graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
Carla Abellana was married to actor Tom Rodriguez in October 2021. Their marriage ended in 2024.

Becoming a Star: Early Roles
Carla started her career as a model for different TV commercials. She appeared in ads for CreamSilk Leave-on in 2002 and Palmolive Conditioner in 2005. In 2009, she tried out for a TV show called Zorro. However, GMA Network saw her talent and instead gave her the main role in Rosalinda. This show was a Filipino version of a popular Mexican TV series.
In the same year, she also became a model for the clothing brand Bench. In 2011, Carla was featured in Philippine Tatler magazine, with photos taken by America's Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker. She also walked the runway at Philippine Fashion Week in 2011.

Carla is not just an actress; she is also a talented host! She has co-hosted several TV shows like SOP Rules, StarStruck, and Party Pilipinas. She also hosted the cooking show Del Monte Kitchenomics and the drama series Karelasyon. Carla has also hosted important beauty pageants, including Binibining Pilipinas 2010 and Miss World Philippines 2013. In 2013, she joined Sunday All Stars as a judge.

Carla Abellana is also a contract star with Regal Films, meaning she has signed to make many movies with them. Her first movie with Regal Films was Mamarazzi. She also starred in her first horror film, Shake, Rattle & Roll XII, which was part of the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival.
In 2011, Carla appeared in the film My Neighbor's Wife. By the end of 2011, she starred in two more films that were part of the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow and Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story. Later, in 2014, she starred in romantic comedies like Somebody to Love and So It's You. In 2015, she reunited with Tom Rodriguez for the movie No Boyfriend Since Birth.
