Carlisle Tarleton Perry (born Carlisle Tarleton Lott on March 15, 1893 – October 7, 1953) was an American baseball player. He played as an infielder in the Negro Leagues during the 1920s. Later, in the 1940s, he also became a manager for a baseball team.
Playing in the Negro Leagues
Carlisle Perry was born in San Antonio, Texas. He began his professional baseball career in 1920. His first team was the Lincoln Giants. During his five years as a player, Carlisle played for several different teams. He was known for being an infielder. This means he played positions like first base, second base, shortstop, or third base. Some of the teams he played for included the Indianapolis ABCs and the Detroit Stars. He also played for the Bacharach Giants and the Baltimore Black Sox. His playing career ended in 1924 with the Cleveland Browns.
Life After Playing
After his time as a player, Carlisle Perry stayed involved in baseball. In 1946, he became the manager for the Los Angeles White Sox. A manager helps lead the team and makes important decisions during games. Carlisle Perry passed away in Los Angeles, California, on October 7, 1953. He was 60 years old.
