Carlos Lamela studied architecture at the Technical School of Architecture of Madrid. He graduated in 1981. Later, in 1984, he also studied design in Florence, Italy.

Carlos Lamela has spent his entire professional life working at Estudio Lamela. This architecture firm was started by his father, Antonio Lamela, in 1954. Today, Carlos is the chief executive and owner of the company.
Under his leadership, Estudio Lamela has designed many important buildings. They are especially known for large public places like airports and soccer stadiums.
