Carlos Sánchez's Football Journey
Carlos Sánchez started his football journey in Madrid, Spain. He grew up playing in the youth system of a local club called CD Leganés. This is where he learned many of his skills.
Joining Real Madrid
In 1999, Carlos signed with one of the biggest football clubs in Spain, Real Madrid. He played as the main goalkeeper for their B and C teams. These teams help young players get ready for the main squad.
He even got to play one game for the famous Real Madrid first team. This happened on December 23, 2001. It was an away game against RCD Mallorca, and the score was a 1–1 draw. He played because the usual goalkeepers, Iker Casillas and César Sánchez, were not available.
Playing for Other Teams
Carlos was often a third-choice goalkeeper at Real Madrid. This meant he didn't play many games for the main team. So, from 2004 to 2006, he was loaned out to other clubs.
He played for Polideportivo Ejido and UD Almería. Both of these teams were in the Segunda División, which is the second-highest football league in Spain. He didn't play much for these teams either.
Success at CD Castellón
In 2006, Carlos became a free agent. This means he could sign with any team he wanted. He joined CD Castellón, another team in the Segunda División.
In his second year with Castellón (the 2007–08 season), he became the main goalkeeper. He played very well, helping his team finish fifth in the league. He also won the Ricardo Zamora Trophy that year. This award is given to the goalkeeper who lets in the fewest goals in a season. Carlos only let in 27 goals in 33 games, which was a great achievement!
Later Career and Coaching
In 2010, CD Castellón was moved down to a lower league. Carlos, who was 32 years old, decided to return to Madrid. He signed with an amateur team called CD Puerta Bonita.
After playing for Puerta Bonita, Carlos decided to retire from playing football. But he didn't leave the sport! He started working as a goalkeeper coach. He went back to his old club, CD Leganés, to help train their goalkeepers.
