Where is Carlow Located?
Carlow is found along Missouri Route V. It's about 3.5 miles northwest of a place called Lock Springs. It's also about seven miles southeast of Gallatin. A stream named Muddy Creek flows right past the east side of Carlow. This creek then joins the Grand River a short distance to the south.

Carlow has an interesting past. For a while, it was known by a different name: Jackson Station.
When Did Carlow Get Its Name?
A post office was first opened in the area in 1871. It was called Jackson's Station. Later, in 1882, the name was officially changed to Carlow. The post office eventually closed down in 1927.

The community was named after a man named Joseph H. Carlow. He owned a local sawmill, which was an important business at the time. Sawmills cut logs into lumber, which was used to build homes and other structures.
