About Baroness Chisholm
Baroness Chisholm is the only daughter of John Wyndham, who was the first Baron Egremont. Her older brother, Max Egremont, inherited the family titles.
In 1976, Carlyn Wyndham married Colin Chisholm. Colin is the son of Archibald Chisholm. They have two sons and one daughter together.
Her Role in the House of Lords
On September 16, 2014, she was made a life peer. Her official title became Baroness Chisholm of Owlpen. This title comes from Owlpen, a place in Gloucestershire. She joined the House of Lords as a member of the Conservative Party.
She has served as a baroness-in-waiting several times. This role is a type of government whip. A whip helps make sure members of their party vote in a certain way. She held this role from 2015 to 2016, 2017 to 2018, 2019 to 2020, and 2021 to 2022. In 2016, she also spoke for the Cabinet Office in the House of Lords.
In 2022, Baroness Chisholm was chosen as one of six "Queen's companions" to Queen Camilla. At the same time, she decided to leave the Conservative Party. She now sits in the House of Lords as a non-affiliated member. This means she is not officially linked to any political party.
In 2023, she and her husband were invited to ride in the King's procession at Royal Ascot.
Honours and Recognition
Baroness Chisholm received the King Charles III Coronation Medal on May 6, 2023. This medal was given to mark the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
