Carmela "Mela" Tunay is a talented Filipina who used to play volleyball. She is also an actress and a TV host! She played for the UST Lady Tigresses in the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines). Later, she joined the Cignal HD Spikers in the PSL until 2016. From 2017 to 2019, she played for the Petron Blaze Spikers.

About Carmela Tunay
Carmela Tunay was born in Mandaluyong, Philippines. She lives in Makati, where she went to Saint Paul College. She studied at the University of Santo Tomas and earned a degree in Communication Arts. Carmela also completed her master's degree in Marketing at the University of Santo Tomas. She finished this degree during her last season playing in the UAAP.
Her Volleyball Journey
Carmela Tunay was an important player for the UST Golden Tigresses. This is the college volleyball team from the University of Santo Tomas. They play in the UAAP Volleyball tournament. The Golden Tigresses finished 6th in Season 76 and 5th in Season 77.
In 2015, Mela joined the Cignal HD Spikers. This team plays in the Philippine Super Liga, a professional volleyball league. During a game in the Shakey's V-League Collegiate Conference 2015, Carmela had a nose injury. But she was back on the court just two weeks later! She played against the UP Lady Maroons and in the semifinals against the ADMU Lady Blue Spikers. Her team eventually lost to the FEU Tamaraws in the game for third place.
With the Petron Blaze Spikers, Carmela achieved great success. She helped her team win a silver medal in the 2017 PSL Invitational Cup. They also won a gold medal in the 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference. Later that year, they secured another silver medal in the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference.
