Maria Carmela "Mela" Tunay is a Filipina former volleyball player. She is also an actress and TV host. Mela played for the UST Lady Tigresses in the UAAP league. She also played for the Cignal HD Spikers in the PSL until 2016. Later, she joined the Petron Blaze Spikers and played for them from 2017 to 2019.

About Carmela Tunay
Carmela Tunay was born in Mandaluyong, Philippines. She lives in Makati, where she went to Saint Paul College.
Mela studied at the University of Santo Tomas. She earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts. She also completed a master's degree in Marketing from the same university. She finished her master's during her last season playing in the UAAP.
Carmela Tunay's Volleyball Career
Mela Tunay was a key player for the UST Golden Tigresses. This is the college volleyball team of the University of Santo Tomas. They compete in the UAAP Volleyball tournament.
The Golden Tigresses finished 6th in Season 76. They then placed 5th in Season 77. In 2015, Mela joined the Cignal HD Spikers. This team plays in the Philippine Super Liga.
During a game in the Shakey's V-League Collegiate Conference 2015, Mela got a nose injury. She was back on the court just two weeks later. She helped UST play against the UP Lady Maroons. They reached the semifinals but lost to the ADMU Lady Blue Spikers. In the third-place game, they lost to the FEU Tamaraws.
With the Petron Blaze Spikers, Mela achieved great success. In 2017, her team won a silver medal in the PSL Invitational Cup. They also won a gold medal in the 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference. Later that year, they secured another silver medal in the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference.
