Carol Dunlop (born April 2, 1946 – died November 2, 1982) was a talented Canadian writer, translator, and photographer. She was also an activist, which means she worked to make the world a better place. Carol is most famous for a book she wrote with her husband, the Argentine writer Julio Cortázar. The book is called The Autonauts of the Cosmoroute, and it came out in 1982.

Carol Dunlop's Life Story

Carol Dunlop was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, a city in the United States. She was the older of two daughters. Carol loved to write and even got a special scholarship for creative writing to attend Lake Erie College. Later, she graduated from McGill University.

Carol married a writer named François Hebert, and they had a son named Stephane in 1968. They lived in Montreal, Canada, for a while. After some years, Carol moved to Paris, France.

In 1977, Carol met the famous writer and activist Julio Cortázar in Canada. They fell in love and got married in 1981. Carol often traveled with Julio on his trips. She also traveled by herself to places like Nicaragua and Poland to support important causes. For example, in Poland, she attended a meeting to show support for Chile.

Carol Dunlop passed away in 1982, two years before her husband, Julio Cortázar. They are both buried together in the Montparnasse Cemetery in Paris.
