Carol Wall (born around 1953) is a Canadian activist who works for workers' rights and social justice. She helps make sure people are treated fairly at work and in society.
Carol Wall's Work
Carol Wall started her journey in workers' rights while working at the Toronto Star newspaper for 17 years. She became very active in the Southern Ontario Newspaper Guild (SONG), which is a union for newspaper workers.
She began as a shop steward, which is like a representative for workers in a specific area. She helped solve problems and make sure workers' voices were heard. Later, she became a union representative for larger groups.
In 1995, she started working for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada. This union helps people who work in communications, energy, and paper industries.
In 1998, Carol helped lead a big meeting called the Commonwealth Study Conference. She also helped write a book called Education for Changing Unions, which teaches about how unions can change and grow.
In 2000, Carol became the first director of human rights for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union. This means she worked to protect everyone's basic rights and make sure no one was treated unfairly. She even went to a big meeting in South Africa in 2001 called the World Conference against Racism to speak up for human rights.
In 2002, she was chosen as a vice president for the Canadian Labour Congress. This is a very important group that represents many workers across Canada. Carol represented workers of colour, making sure their specific needs and concerns were addressed. She also worked as a negotiator for the Public Service Alliance of Canada, helping workers get fair deals.
Carol was also part of many other groups that work for fairness. She was a member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and served on committees for women's rights and human rights within big labour organizations. She also helped on the boards of groups that deal with fair pay and research about work.
In 2005, Carol ran to become the president of the Canadian Labour Congress. Even though it was a tough race, she got a lot of support. Her campaign was about making the Labour Congress more focused on its members and more inclusive of everyone.

Currently, Carol works as a Regional Director for the Federal Mediation Conciliation Service in Ontario. This means she helps solve disagreements between workers and their employers, making sure things run smoothly.
