Carson is a small community in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, United States. It is called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Carson is located about 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Prentiss on Mississippi Highway 42. The community has its own post office with the ZIP code 39427.
History of Carson
Carson has an interesting past. Before Jefferson Davis County was created, Carson was part of Covington County. The first post office in Carson opened its doors in the year 1900.
Carson was once a busy place because it was located along the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, a major train line. In the past, Carson was home to six general stores, which sold all sorts of goods. There were also two sawmills, where trees were cut into lumber. Many lumber camps were also in the area, providing places for workers to live.
