Caruth is a small, quiet place in Dunklin County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
Finding Caruth
This community is located in the southeastern part of Missouri. You can find Caruth along Missouri Route Y. It is about 6.5 miles south of the city of Kennett. Caruth is also about 3.5 miles east of another town called Senath, which is located on Missouri Route P. If you travel just three miles south from Caruth on Route Y, you will reach the community of Cotton Plant.
The Story of Caruth
The very first people to settle in the area that became Caruth arrived in the year 1881. The person who founded this small community decided to name it after someone he knew. This person was a businessman from St. Louis, and his last name was Caruth. A post office was opened in Caruth in 1882. This post office served the community for many years, helping people send and receive mail, until it finally closed in 1913.
